Montenegro Dance Festival
See all different kinds of dance, from ballet to traditional fold dancing as participants from around the world meet to dance, socialise and compete at this festival taking place April –May in Kotor and Tivat.
After the winners are announced on the last day a huge party atmosphere takes over the main square.
For centuries and reflecting its Venetian heritage, Kotor has traditionally celebrated with their February carnival.
Since 2001 and to the delight of thousands, an additional summer festival has been added to the calendar. Taking place in August, usually over 3 days, the Summer Carnival sets the town alight to music, dancing and general festivities as masked party-goers celebrate into the early hours. The pinnacle is the international parade, which takes place along the main Kotor road and includes carnival groups from all over the Mediterranean.
Kotor Art Festival
The Kotor Art Festival sees a number of cultural, artistic and philosophical events held throughout July and August. For 2011 this included festivals of children’s theatre, music, open-air plays, art workshops, plus various debates and discussion.
Boka’s Night (Bokeljska noc)
Usually in the third week of August and taking place in front of the walls of the old town, decorated boats cruise along the harbour and compete for a number of prestigious awards. The night is celebrated by locals and visitors alike within the walls until the early morning.
